Why International Teaching Week Matters

In today’s interconnected world, International Teaching Weeks play a vital role in promoting academic exchange, intercultural understanding, and global collaboration among universities. These initiatives provide students with exposure to diverse teaching perspectives, enhance faculty mobility, and encourage international partnerships that enrich curricula and research ecosystems. By connecting educators and learners across borders, such programs help universities strengthen their commitment to global citizenship and sustainable academic development.

Strengthening Academic Bridges Between HSMW and BUEB

A significant step toward deepening international academic collaboration was achieved this week as Prof. Dr. Pradeep Kumar, from the Faculty of Industrial Engineering, University of Applied Sciences Mittweida (HSMW), successfully concluded an enriching academic visit to the Bratislava University of Economics and Business (BUEB), Slovakia.

The visit, hosted by BUEB’s Office of International Relations, took place during the university’s 19th International Teaching Week (October 27–29, 2025) and marked a milestone in strengthening cooperation in teaching, research, and innovation between the two institutions.

Academic Engagement and Knowledge Exchange

An interactive session with 27 international students - 26 of whom were Erasmus participants - created a dynamic, multicultural learning environment. Students examined real-world business cases, including Walmart, Apple, Volkswagen, and the TATA Group, applying theoretical frameworks to analyze global management challenges.

Fostering Future Collaboration

In addition to teaching, Prof. Kumar held meetings with Assoc. Prof. Boris Mattos, Vice-Rector of BUEB, and senior faculty members to explore opportunities for joint research projects, faculty and student exchanges, dual-degree programs, and EU-funded collaborations. The discussions were highly productive and laid the groundwork for future cooperation in areas such as Erasmus+ mobility, international research initiatives, and business innovation programs.

Reflecting on his visit, Prof. Dr. Pradeep Kumar remarked:

“My visit to the Bratislava University of Economics and Business has been both inspiring and productive. The exchange of ideas and our shared commitment to academic excellence will undoubtedly pave the way for long-term collaboration and mutual growth.”

While no formal agreement was in place before this visit, both universities expressed strong intent to establish mobility agreements for students, academic staff, and administrative personnel—signaling the beginning of a new phase of academic partnership and international engagement between HSMW and BUEB.
