Transforming International Higher Education Through Indo-European Academic Partnerships

Warsaw, Poland | 25 June 2026

The Indo-European Education Foundation (IEEF), Warsaw, Poland, continues to strengthen the internationalisation of higher education by fostering meaningful partnerships between European and Indian institutions. As part of this mission, IEEF successfully coordinated and hosted a distinguished delegation from Marathwada Mitra Mandal (MMM), Pune, India, during the Academia–Industry Experience in the European Union Programme, held from 22 June to 3 July 2026.

Designed to promote academic excellence, institutional collaboration, and industry engagement, the two-week programme brought together academic leaders from India and universities, research institutions, innovation ecosystems, and industrial partners across Poland, Germany, and the Netherlands. The initiative reflects IEEF's vision of creating sustainable international partnerships that prepare higher education institutions to address global challenges through collaborative education, research, innovation, and skills development.

The programme commenced at the University of Opole, Poland, where a landmark trilateral academic partnership was formalised under the coordination of the Indo-European Education Foundation. Building upon the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the University of Opole and IEEF on 29 May 2025, the visit marked a significant milestone with the signing of two Letters of Intent between the University of Opole and Marathwada Mitra Mandal.

The first, an institutional Letter of Intent, was signed by Prof. Dr. Hab. Daniel Pietrek, Rector of the University of Opole, and Hon'ble Shri B. G. Jadhav, President of Marathwada Mitra Mandal. It establishes a framework for long-term cooperation in joint research, academic mobility, faculty and student exchanges, conferences, publications, professional training, and collaborative educational initiatives. The partnership was facilitated and coordinated by Dr. Pradeep Kumar, Founder President of the Indo-European Education Foundation, whose continued efforts have played a pivotal role in expanding Indo-European academic cooperation. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elżbieta Szymańska-Czaplak, Dean of the Faculty of Philology, coordinated the collaboration on behalf of the University of Opole.

A second, faculty-level Letter of Intent was signed between the Faculty of Philology at the University of Opole and Marathwada Mitra Mandal's Shankarrao Chavan Law College, Pune, laying the foundation for a jointly developed international certificate programme focusing on Intercultural Communication in Business, Intercultural Communication in Institutions, Business Legal English, and Legal Terminology. This agreement represents an important step towards developing globally relevant interdisciplinary programmes that combine language, law, and intercultural competence.

  • An Extensive Academic and Industrial Study Tour

Following the successful launch of the programme in Opole, the delegation undertook an extensive academic and industrial study tour across Europe. Coordinated by IEEF, the programme offered participants valuable exposure to European models of higher education governance, applied research, vocational education, innovation ecosystems, technology transfer, entrepreneurship, and university–industry collaboration. Through institutional visits and strategic discussions, the delegates explored opportunities for joint research projects, collaborative degree programmes, faculty and student mobility, curriculum innovation, capacity building, and internationalisation strategies.

Building Enduring Academic Ecosystems

The Academia–Industry Experience in the European Union Programme demonstrates how international engagement extends beyond institutional agreements to create enduring academic ecosystems built on trust, innovation, and shared objectives. By integrating universities, industry partners, and research organisations, the initiative provides academic leaders with practical insights into global best practices while opening new avenues for collaborative education and research.

Reflecting on the successful completion of the programme, Dr. Pradeep Kumar emphasised that international partnerships are becoming increasingly important in shaping the future of higher education. He noted that the initiative illustrates how sustained collaboration between European and Indian institutions can contribute to academic excellence, innovation, intercultural understanding, and the development of globally competent graduates equipped to thrive in an interconnected world.

  • Looking Ahead

The programme concluded in Warsaw, Poland, on 3 July 2026, marking another significant milestone in IEEF's commitment to advancing Indo-European educational cooperation. The partnerships established and strengthened during the visit are expected to lead to joint research initiatives, innovative academic programmes, international mobility opportunities, and long-term institutional collaborations, reinforcing IEEF's role as a trusted bridge connecting higher education institutions across Europe and India.

As higher education evolves in response to global challenges, the Indo-European Education Foundation works with partners to connect continents, empower institutions, and create opportunities for students, researchers, educators, and innovators.
